Interactive teaching in economics through experiments and simulations

The project ‘Interactive teaching in economics through experiments and simulations’ was funded by the state of Lower Saxony as part of the Innovation Plus programme and ran from 2019 to 2021 (extension due to pandemic restrictions). The aim of the project is to integrate economic experiments and simulations into the compulsory module Decision Theory in the Bachelor of Economics (1st semester). This new form of teaching implements the idea of activating teaching and action-orientated learning in a mass undergraduate course. This improves teaching in a meaningful way through digitalisation, as students acquire a deeper understanding of economic relationships based on their own decision-making behaviour. By using experiments and simulations to illustrate all subject areas of the module, students gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of decision theory, which are particularly important for modern business administration.
