Seminar programme in the winter semester 2024/2025

We are pleased to be able to offer you two seminars by our lecturers in the coming semester. The first seminar will be held as part of a teaching assignment by Professor Winkeljohann (Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG, among others) and will deal with current issues of corporate governance and auditing. This year's seminar will focus in particular on the organisation of remuneration systems. In addition, PwC's Osnabrück office manager Dr Achim Lienau will also be offering his case study seminar on company valuation, in which students will have the opportunity to prepare their own valuation report based on a case study.

1. Current issues in corporate governance and auditing (Prof. Winkeljohann)

The seminar is offered by Prof Dr Norbert Winkeljohann and supported by the Controlling department. It is aimed at students on the Master's degree programme in Business Administration. Please contact the Department of Controlling for all organisational matters.

The seminar will focus on current issues relating to corporate governance and auditing. Participants in this year's seminar will take an in-depth look at the organisation of remuneration systems and discuss current issues in this context.

To take part in the seminar, you must register by 15 October 2024. Please send an e-mail to controlling@uni-osnabrueck.de with the subject ‘Masterseminar Prof. Winkeljohann’ and a current transcript of records attached. Please indicate which seminar you would like to apply for, or more than one if you are interested.

From all applicants, 16 people will be selected according to the following (lexicographically organised) criteria:

  1. Students in the Master's programme in Business Administration (before other degree programmes)
  2. Preliminary work (especially in accounting, auditing, controlling)
  3. Subject Semester

If the number of applicants exceeds 16, we will endeavour to make you an alternative offer.

A provisional list of participants will be drawn up before the preliminary meeting. Students who do not attend the preliminary meeting without being excused will lose their allocated place.

You will receive a specific list of topics and all further information shortly in Stud.IP.

2. Case studies on company valuation (Dr Lienau)

This seminar is primarily aimed at students in the Master's programme who wish to take a seminar in business administration and is held as part of a teaching assignment by Dr Achim Lienau.

The course begins with a lecture section. On the basis of the knowledge acquired there and in previous courses (in particular Controlling IIb), the participants then work on a case study on company valuation. The aim is to prepare a valuation report in short form. Information on the content structure and material (literature) will be announced in the first teaching unit. The term paper in the form of the valuation report and the subsequent presentation are graded and count as proof of performance.

To take part in the seminar, you must apply by 15 October 2024. Please send an e-mail to controlling@uni-osnabrueck.de with the subject ‘Masterseminar Dr Lienau’ and a current transcript of records attached. Please indicate which seminar you would like to apply for, or more than one if you are interested.

From all applicants, 20 people will be selected according to the following (lexicographically organised) criteria:

  1. Student in the Master of Business Administration (before other degree programmes)
  2. Preliminary work (especially in Controlling IIb Business Valuation)
  3. Subject Semester

Register for the StudIP course in addition to your registration by e-mail. Once the 20 places have been allocated, the students accepted to the course will remain in StudIP. All those who unfortunately could not be accepted will be removed from the course in StudIP.

According to the current state of planning, the event will take place as a block in attendance at the offices of PwC Osnabrück (Niedersachsenstr. 14, 49074 Osnabrück). Attendance is compulsory.

Please find all further information on the application and the course of the event in Stud.IP.
